William launches suicide prevention guidance backed by sporting stars
A new suicide prevention toolkit is helping people across sport recognise warning signs, start supportive conversations and connect those at risk with appropriate help.
Content advisory: This article discusses suicide.
The Prince of Wales and The Royal Foundation have brought together athletes, sporting organisations and suicide prevention specialists to launch On Your Side, a practical toolkit created specifically for the sporting community.
Developed with the British Standards Institution and Chasing the Stigma, the resource is designed for everyone from grassroots clubs to elite organisations. It helps players, coaches, staff, volunteers, families and supporters recognise possible warning signs, begin a direct and compassionate conversation, and connect someone with appropriate support.
The Football Association, Premier League, Team GB and British Cycling are among the organisations supporting the initiative. England captain Harry Kane, Formula 1 driver George Russell and other leading sports figures also took part in a campaign film encouraging people to talk openly and offer support.
